새해 다섯살이 된 딸아이는 당당하게 이야기 한다.

친구와 싸웠나, 선생님께 혼났나 하는 지레짐작은 아이에게 질문하게 만든다.

그리고 아이는 깨끗하게 걱정을 지운다.

"아빠가 싫어서!"

여기서 "아빠가 왜 싫어?" 묻는 것은 그날 아침을 블랙홀에 빠뜨리는 짓이다.

그렇다면 그냥 그런 것이다.

오늘 아침 아이의 답변은 나로 새롭게 생각하게 만든다.

그동안 얼마나 많은 무의미한 'WHY'로 대화와 관계에서 스스로 어려움을 만들었던가.

나는 '왜'를 위한 '왜'로 피곤하게 살았다.

상대가 '왜' 저렇게 말했을까? 무슨 의도가 있는 것은 아닐까?

대화에서 이유에 집중하는 바람에 본질을 매번 잊었다.

본질은 '오늘은 어린이집에 갈 맘이 없다'이고, '너가 시킨대로 하기 싫어', '나는 내가 하고 싶은 대로 하고 싶어'이다.

이유는 없다.

애닳고 곤란한 내 관계의 원인은 아이러니하게도 '왜'였다. '

'왜' 없이 대화할 수 있는 어른이가 될 수 있을까?

"어린이집 가기 싫어!"

"음, 아빠도 회사 가기 싫어!"

그렇다면 그런대로 너도 나도 그렇구나.
